The latest news in
Chad Johnson’s downward spiral is that he will be receiving 30 days in jail. Johnson playfully slapped his lawyer on the
butt right before the judge was going to
approve the former WR’s no-jail plea.
After the judge saw Johnson slap his lawyer’s backside, she felt he wasn’t
taking it seriously and sentenced him to 30 days in jail.
Now I’ve seen the
video of Johnson on ESPN.com like three times, and it didn’t seem like he was
really being over the top unprofessional; as a former pro athlete that kind of
stuff happens on the field all the time and it seemed like this was just his
way of saying good job to his lawyer.
But when you’re in court obviously you should know not to do things like
that. I think that after this, Johnson has made sure that he won’t return to
the NFL.
I can’t for see
any team wanting to put up with him for any length of time. The guy always has to have attention, and in
his last few seasons in the league, he was anything but spectacular. Now you tack on the fact that he is a problem
off the field as well.
Plain and simple,
I think the NFL has grown wise to Johnson’s antics, and if the league is smart,
no one will ever bring him back to the NFL.
